This is a NEW (0 miles, 0 previous owners, 0 scratches) 2000 year model Bianchi XL EV2, under 5 year factory warranty, in size 55cm center to top with a top tube length of 55.0cm center to center. This size is a perfect fit for a person 160 to 170cm tall and a good fit for a person 155 to 175cm tall. The head angle is 73.5, seat tube angle 73.5, fork offset 45mm, and chainstay length 405mm.
The frame is made of Dedaccai aluminum, triple butted , tapered, ovalized, shaped, heat treated, hard coated, and ceramic foam filled in the bottom bracket area for stiffness and vibration dampening. It weighs less than 3 lbs, and I have more techno-weenie information available if desired. The front fork is carbon fiber and weighs less than 1 lb. The total bicycle weight is 17 lbs and would approach 15 lbs with sewup wheels. The current value is about $4000.
The components consist of Campagnolo Record Ergo shifters and rear derailleur, Record 39/53 crank in 170mm, Chorus brakes, and 10 speed hubs. The rims are Mavic Open Pro, and the saddle is a Marco Pentani Flite titanium.
History: Most cyclists already know Bianchi, but in case you are a welcome curious novice just looking, Bianchi is the world’s oldest bicycle manufacturer and has operated continuously since 1888. Their list of victories is longer than your arm. We are saddened by the news of the untimely death of Pantani, Bianchi’s star climber, World Champion, T d’F and Giro winner, and primarily the one who validated the XL-EV2 model. His name and Pirate caricature are embroidered on the saddle.
Below is a photo of Pantani on this model Bianchi in the 2000 Giro. Above 9000 feet, and climbing 10% to 13% grades so fast that he had to brake going into the uphill switchbacks, he came from the rear and passed the race.
